ACES issue 5
While this blog is really a record of what I'm reading...or have read. As it's mostly comics based I feel at liberty to mention that I've just finished issue 5 of THE ACES. My own comic!
Only taken me 26 years to tell the story of the ACES and The Time Machine but I've finished. The final issue took me 6 months to finish.
Of course, my son Luke wants me to continue the comic especially as he's now in it! Plenty of ideas for the next few stories and, hopefully, it'll take less time to complete each individual issue.

Amazon brings Daredevil and Mouse Guard
Two quite different trades arrived today thanks to Amazon.
Daredevil masterworks vol. 1 reprints issues 1 -11 from 1964 /65 whereas Mouse Guard Autumn 1152 is an altogether different kind of comic from 2006. I've read lots of positive reviews of Mouse Guard so I thought it was time to give it a try. This hardback collection looks very nice.
The question is - when will I get to read any of these new purchases? Well part of the reason for this blog is to see if I'm buying more than I can actually read. But I'll have to make a judgement over a year or two and this year I am keen to press on with some novels.

Batman Year One Part 3
Batman 406 (cover dated Apr 87) doesn't have the best cover from this 4 part story, in fact the cover is significantly different to the others, but the story is dramatic as Bats makes his escape from the Police. I am really enjoying reading this short run again.
Still reading Fool's Errand by Robin Hobb. At about page 450 out of 670.

Batman Year One Part 2
Read Part 2 today.
There was quite a bit of negativity towards this on Bronze Age Babies last week so it will be interesting if more commentators come out in support of this fantastic series. I certainly did.

Hulk Masterworks Vol 2
This Masterworks arrived via Amazon the other day. Probably won't be read for a while yet as I plan to read it when I start my Marvel re-read from the beginning.
However, it's nice to look through covering about 20 issues of Tales to Astonish from 1964 - 1966. I must say the paper stock and colouring have come a long way from the very first editions of the Masterworks which were too shiny and garish in my opinion. A welcome addition to my collection at a bargain price of £10.50.

Batman Year One
One of my regular comic websites is going to be reviewing Frank Miller's classic Batman Year One story starting tomorrow (Monday) so in preparation for that I'm sneaking in the issues whilst still reading "Fool's Errard" by Robin Hobb.
I read part one last night and it is a classic. Definitely one of my all time favourites and one I voted for on Comic Book Resources Greatest Storylines. It was voted number 4.
