The World of Edena by Moebius

This was a pretty hefty hardback collection. The story was OK especially the early chapters but the art is phenomenal. Up to this purchase I didn't own any Moebius and I am very glad to have rectified that issue regarding my collection.

Star Wars from Dark Horse

I've now read though all my Dark Horse SW trades. I'd read the first some time ago and wasn't that impressed but thinks definitely picked up in volumes 2 and 3.

Volume 4 was a bit of a mix with various stories. The main story wasn't really developed any further, probably as a result of DH losing the license.

Overall, I probably wouldn't have been worse off for not reading these but they didn't waste my time either. It will be interesting to compare these to the new Marvel stories which are just coming out.

The Last Dark Horse Star Wars trade

This arrived this weekend. So I now have all four volumes.

Even though I was slightly disappointed by volume 1 when I read it (it's the only volume I have read so far), I'm pleased to have all four volumes to read consecutively,

When I  get round to it.

The new Marvel SW launch is getting excellent reviews so I should read this first,

Wookie World

So I've just purchased Volume 6 of Dark Horse's reprinting of the old Marvel Star Wars comics.

This volume, picked up on ebay for £10 incl P&P, reprints issue numbers 82-95. It's the last one I needed to complete the collection.

A bit of irony though as DH has just lost the license and in a month or so Marvel will start publishing Star Wars comics again. They are also planning 2 omnibus volumes reprinting their original series but I'm happy with these DH collections.

Various new purchases

Time for some new purchases. All of these are continuations from previous volumes I already have.

The Hawkeye soft cover is of note. \i had previously got an oversized collection containing vols 1 and 2. Word is that there won't be one for 3 and 4 and Marvel is going straight for the omnibus. Darn-it! So softcover versions of 3 and 4 for me.

As it is Star Wars Day I thought I'd post that I've recently bought Star Wars by Brian Wood Vol 2.

Also have bought The X-Men Masterworks Vol 1 and Vol 4 is on it's way to complete my collection of the X-Men series.

In the Shadow of Yavin

I must say I was disappointed by this after hearing so much hype about it.

On the positive side, the plot was interesting and the spaceship art was impressive.

On the negative side, Wood's style of narration felt weird to me (in particular his liking of putting caption boxes at the end of the scene rather than at the beginning)

I also felt all the human characters looked too similar. Some good art on the alien races.

At the moment I am undecided as to whether or not to continue with the series. I want to (it's Star Wars and our Edge of the Empire Roleplaying has certainly made SW the flavour of the month) but for a 6 issue series it took me too long to read - which says quite a bit!)
