The Rolling Stones in Cerebus

Still reading Cerebus. Just an issue a night recently as I've been watching Spartacus: Vengeance, Fringe Season 1 and re-watching Game of Thrones reading for season 2 in April.

These two issues feature Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Sim does them well.

Exciting New Purchases

I am really excited about these purchases - all of which arrived today.

The Marvel Firsts 1970s Vol 1 contains quite a few first appearances of teams or characters that I've not got the orginal comics for. Such as Werewolf By Night, Luke Cage, The Defenders or Ghost Rider. There are one or two I already had but for £13.50 for a well put-together package this is great value!

Whilst the above is of historical interest (particularly for me as it's Bronze Age) the two Brubaker books will probably be more enjoyable reads. The Catwoman collection (again £13.50) reprints some critically acclaimed early DC work and the Criminal Editions so far have been great so I am expecting more of the same with Volume 6.

Now these are added to the reading list but it may be sometime before I read them all.

Church and State Volume 2

I'm now onto Volume 2 of Church and State. However, I have the single issues of this story rather than the phonebook sized collection. So I can show the covers. Some nice ones here!

First up issues 81 - 84.

Cerebus Church & State

Just finished Cerebus High Society yesterday.

Now starting on Church & State vol 1 which reprints issues 52-80 of Cerebus.

Cover shown above is from a 1991 reprint of issue 67 which I somehow seemed to have acquired at some point. Probably for a few pence at a comic mart. It's the only reprint I have from this volume.

Cool cover!

Cerebus - High Society

This phonebook sized paperback reprints Cerebus 26-50. I'm near the end as I write this (issue 44 I think). Haven't read this for about 20 years and really enjoying it.

Throughly recommend Cerebus upto the end of Church & State story arc and I am intending to re-read upto that point.

Only downside...the binding is coming loose which is making it more difficult to read.

I have got one or two of the original issues and will post those covers when I read those particular issues.

I'm back blogging...(sort of)

I've decided this year to try and keep track of what I've read and what I've bought.

To keep the blog focused I will only list books and comics.

I'm not sure if I will be commenting/reviewing any of what I have read or bought. We'll see how the mood takes me. I reckon I read at an average pace but I generally don't have a great deal of time for reading and when I do, it's late at night so I'm tired after about 20-30mins.

New Years resolution. Find more time for reading.

Anyways....so what am I reading at the beginning of the year...?
