X-Men Masterworks and Epic Cap

With this purchase I've completed my (somewhat eclectic) collection of X-Men Masterworks. Just really DD to concentrate on now to have the silver age runs that I want. I would like Doc Strange, vol 4 of Hulk and maybe Warlock and Captain Marvel if the opportunity arises.

The Epic Collection format  is a really nice package. Better than Essentials as it's in colour but still with plenty of pages. This one I've just bought was just shy of 500 pages and collected
CAPTAIN AMERICA (1968) 247-266, ANNUAL 5, (CAPTAIN AMERICA EPIC COLLECTION VOL. 9) so is nearly as packed as an Essential volume.

Now of course I've already got most of the material in these collections but for title like Cap or Thor this is an excellent way to get stuff I've not got at an affordable price.

Saying all that, some of comics in this particular one I did have! This volume reprints comics I already had in the "War and Remembrance" trade by Stern and Byrne. Those are brilliant comics and that old trade could make a good gift or an introduction to Cap for my 10 year old.

As it is Star Wars Day I thought I'd post that I've recently bought Star Wars by Brian Wood Vol 2.

Also have bought The X-Men Masterworks Vol 1 and Vol 4 is on it's way to complete my collection of the X-Men series.

Batwoman by J.H. Williams III

I'd read so much positive stuff about this series that I decided to give it a go. Well, I'm very pleased I did. The artwork is original and fantastic and the story zips along at a brisk pace too.

I'll order Vol 2 (of the New 52) series soon.

Lots of New Purchases

Had a bit of a splurge recently.

Lots to read here - but my wish list is greatly reduced!

Power Girl - Power Trip

This meaty trade collected 17 issues, 11 of which I'd read only last year but very happy to read again.

It's great value for a great collection of comics.

All Star Western - Jonah Hex in the new 52

I also breezed through this this week.

Not as fun as Power Girl - maybe that's the art - but fast paced and crazy. It was good but at the current time I'm not inclined to rush out and get Vol 2. I've loads to read at the moment and must try and show some restraint.

FF Vol 2 Family Freakout

I can't believe it was last August when I read vol 1 and I've only just got vol 2.

With my policy of no Marvel stuff in 2014 it will be some time before I get to read this but I hope I'll have vol 3 by then. In fact, I hope I'll have the complete Matt Fraction run on Fantastic Four and FF so I can enjoy the whole story. Flicking through this - it looks very interesting. Just loving Allred's art style.
