More Thor Masterworks

It's not actually been that long since I last bought two volumes of Thor Masterworks but here I am buying two more, And these will be my last ones.

Vol 9 fits the gap between the Thor Epic collection vol 4 which I've had since March 15 and, what was up to then, the earliest Thor Masterwork collection I had which was volume 10.

Volume 15 is the latest volume to be published and it reprints the first US edition Thor comic I ever bought (not that I bought many). That was issue 253 and my copy is getting a bit shabby now. Great Kirby cover on this one!

I've pre-ordered volume 2 of the Thor Epic collection series and so when that arrives I will have the majority of the Silver and Bronze Age runs.

Black Science continues with Vol 4

It's been a while since I've blogged but I've been pretty busy with other stuff, what with selling some stuff on ebay and the European football championships in France.

This pre-ordered item arrived over a week ago but it will go on the shelf until other volumes arrive as BS definitely reads better in chunks.

I'm currently reading another Peter Grant novel but I seem to be struggling for time to sit and read at the moment.

X-Men Apocalypse

Well the superhero films keep coming. We went to see this film over the Bank Holiday weekend.

A good film but, in my opinion, not quite as good as "Days of Future Past"

Lots more Quicksilver though so that was a plus.

Nice shiney new hardcover collections - Waid and Brubaker

Just received:

The fifth and final volume in the nice oversized edition reprinting Mark Waid's recent Daredevil run.

The weighty Gotham Central Omnibus by Brubaker and Greg Rucka. It needs more than one pic to to the size of this justice.

Two lovely looking collections for my shelf and I'm sure they will be nice to read too when I get the time.

Fatale

I've just read all five volumes of the Fatale series.

Another Brubaker noir series. He does them all the time but they are still worth reading.

This is an excellent example of my patience with trades these days. I bought the first volume in August 2012 and the last in Oct 2014. Waiting to read them so close together helped me enjoy the story much more.

Still buying Brubaker material with an Omnibus on the way,,,,

Criminal 10th Anniversary Issue - Deadly Hands!

I can't believe it's been over a year since I bought the last Criminal special edition which was also in the imitation magazine format. This one is packaged like the old "Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu".

Although these stories will be collected in trade later this year, I really wanted them in this magazine format as it makes them a bit special.

Captain America Civil War

The Marvel movies come round pretty regularly these days and this was one of the biggest yet. So many heroes packed into one film.

The plot was a little weak in terms of I struggled to believe an ordinary citizen could cause so much trouble but the action sequences were just awesome.

Special mention to the new Spidey. Early signs this is the best one yet!
