X-Men Masterworks by Neil Adams and Roy Thomas

This is a first printing from 2006 and I remember paying an arm and a leg for it when I got it from Forbidden Planet. That was before I discovered that Amazon sold these sort of things as well!

Anyway, after 6 years, I've finally got around to reading it and it was good. The majority of the issues were by Thomas and Adams and this collection actually has the final issues of the the title before it's re-vamp in the 1970s as the All New X-Men by Chris Claremont.

Adams faces are his strong point IMHO but his layouts are interesting too. I enjoyed reading what is now an historically important book.

A Mixed post bag of New Purchases

Well everything arrives at once!

Marvel Team-Up #11 by Len Wein and Jim Mooney is a hard to get and slightly more expensive early issue . My FN copy was picked up on ebay for £4.70.

The two books are pretty hefty, The Jim Aparo Batman collection is 510 pages and The Rex Mundi Omnibus clocks in at 582 pages. Plenty for me to go at there!!

Just finishing X-Men Masterworks at the moment. Should finish that soon.

John Byrne's Man of Steel

This must be the first DC comic I ever bought. John Byrne had become one of my favourite creators so when he left the FF and Marvel so do this Superman revamp in 1986 I decided to bite the bullet and give DC a try.

I'm pleased I did. I loved this mini-series and continued buying DC comics for years afterwards. This was a golden time for DC with their various re-launches. Miller on Batman, Perez on Wonder Woman, Giffen + DeMattis on Justice League. I would have missed out on all these as they were being published if I hadn't followed JB.

Plus as a result I discovered Moore on Swamp Thing and then the Vertigo books. And subsequently other independents as Comico or Cerebus. So this was an important series for me.

I've re-read all 6 issues of the mini as they are featuring the comics on Bronze Age Babies at the moment. So now I can comment with the stories fresh in my mind.

Issue 4 (cover above) I think was the best overall.

Added to my collection: Marvel Team-Up 38

Another Team-up to tick-off. I'm chuffed with picking this up for £2.70 on ebay as buy-it-now price is £9.

Still a few Team-ups to get to complete the 1-100 run...but getting there.

morning glories - Vols 1 -3

I've just completed reading vols 1-3 (issues 1-17) of this Image comic. I re-read vol 1 despite only reading it last Feb as it the mystery is more enjoyable reading such a large chunk.

Only problem now is I've got to wait some time before Vol 4 comes out. Will I remember what's gone on before?

Added to my collection: Cheap Team-Ups

These later issues of Marvel Team-Up and Marvel Two-In-One are not high in priority on my wants lists but I'm not going to miss them if they are going cheap. MTU #134 with art by Ron Frenz (who's a fav of mine) was £1.20 but the other two issues were 49p each.

2-in-1 No. 19 is cover dated Sept 1976. Which is the month I bought my first American Marvel. So that's nice as I would like as many issues as possible for that cover date (which were actually on sale in June in the US and then Sept over here in the UK)
