New Purchases
It's that time when I can order new stuff and this lot arrived via Amazon yesterday.
Side note: Amazon seems to be getting more expensive for trades these days. The Book Despository is often cheaper although Amazon packaging is slightly more robust. This lot were about the same price at both outlets so I went with Amazon for the packaging. Saying that, I've just ordered some stuff from Forbidden Planet online which seems cheaper even with postage costs added.
Back to this order, I'm continuing to get the Bawoman series and the Judge Dredd is just what I want as it's nice hardcover collections of classic stories in colour. It's a lovely package. This is Vol 1 of Classics and I'm sure I'll buy more.
Another side note: I'm in the middle of a novel at the moment which is taking me longer than anticipated to finish (although I am enjoying it). Looking back at what I've bought I'm thinking I'm going to have to revise my plans for starting Marvel from FF#1. I'm guessing I'm going to have to move it back to Jan 2016 rather than 2015. That will give me time to finish all the cool DC stuff I've on my read pile and those Marvel Omnibuses I'm buying - two more due this year. Phew!

Batman and the Outsiders
I've always been a huge Alan Davis fan. In fact one of my first ever DC books was Detective Comics drawn by Davis. However, with my limited DC knowledge I hadn't realised that he'd actually worked on another title with Mike W. Barr before they worked on Detective together.
That was Batman and the Outsiders beginning with issue 22. Well as that particular issue seems to be Part 3 of a story I thought I'd also get Parts 1 and 2 (in issues 16 and 20 respectively??).
If I like these I'm sure I'll get as many of the following issues as I can which feature Davis's art.

Batgirl Robin Year One
It was about a year ago when I said I was going to buy this despite just finishing reading the individual Batgirl Year One collection.
Well, I've finally got it. Time to find a home for that old trade.

X-Men Masterworks and Epic Cap
With this purchase I've completed my (somewhat eclectic) collection of X-Men Masterworks. Just really DD to concentrate on now to have the silver age runs that I want. I would like Doc Strange, vol 4 of Hulk and maybe Warlock and Captain Marvel if the opportunity arises.
The Epic Collection format is a really nice package. Better than Essentials as it's in colour but still with plenty of pages. This one I've just bought was just shy of 500 pages and collected
CAPTAIN AMERICA (1968) 247-266, ANNUAL 5, (CAPTAIN AMERICA EPIC COLLECTION VOL. 9) so is nearly as packed as an Essential volume.
Now of course I've already got most of the material in these collections but for title like Cap or Thor this is an excellent way to get stuff I've not got at an affordable price.
Saying all that, some of comics in this particular one I did have! This volume reprints comics I already had in the "War and Remembrance" trade by Stern and Byrne. Those are brilliant comics and that old trade could make a good gift or an introduction to Cap for my 10 year old.
