Added to My collection: Dracula's Daughter - LIlith!

I am pretty happy at receiving this in the post yesterday. Although I completed my Tomb of Dracula run late last year, Giant-size Chillers #1 does tie into the series and I love the cover so I really wanted to get a copy.

However, issues seemed to go for a song on ebay and byuy-it-now copies were around the £25 mark so I've lsot out on quite a few auctions. Until now that is!

This VG copy was £4.50 + P&P so I reckon I've got it as cheap as I could unless I wanted to get a reprint (if there is one outside of the trade collections).

Blackout by Mira Grant

I finished this book last night. It certainly took me a lot less time to read than Deadline which I only finished at the beginning of the month, not because it was any better but just because I had more time as I've caught up on a lot of TV.

I think these last two books were not as good as Feed. They were a bit predictable and I felt the explanations of what was going on (particularly in regards to the medical virus stuff) could have been made clearer. Still, they were enjoyable enough but I wouldn't be wanting to re-read at any time in the future.

Daredevil and the Black Widow go Cosmic!

These two issues won on ebay complete a run of early Daredevils which tie-in to Jim Starlin's Cosmic storyline which ran through Captain Marvel and Warlock in the 1970's. These issues are actually written by Stevfe Gerber but JS does write and draw part of 105 which features the first appearance and origin of Moondragon. Not a character you who have expected to begin in those pages!

Batman Collected Adventures Vol 2

It wasn't long ago that I purchased Vol 1 for £2.81 from an Amazon Marketplace seller and so I was pleased to pick this up for a similar price again from Marketplace. The condition isn't quite as good as it feels a bit worn, but it's a solid copy with no rips, marks or tears.

I don't know how many of these were published ( I know I could look!) but I'm happy to pick up secondhand copies for this sort of price.

Deadline by Mira Grant

Well rather than posting about what I've bought, this week I can actually say I've read something.

Deadline is the second book in the Newsflesh triolgy. I read the first part Feed last year. I don't know why it took me a month to read it because I enjoyed it. It was probably due to getting distracted  with painting figures, footy etc.

I've gone straight into book three.

Another week of New Stuff

I've purchased some different stuff this week.

First up are two Dave Stevens hardcovers which basically reprint his entire comics related material. That's such a shame because that man could draw! Especailly pretty girls although his longest (and best known) comic is "The Rocketeer" which is about an escape artist/ adventurer.

The Covers and Stories reprints his none Rocketeer work and has lots of full page illustrations which are just beautiful to look at.

Adam Hughes wrote the introduction to "Covers and Stories" as he was highly influenced by Stevens and it was really just a co-incidence that I also bought his book "Cover Run" which is a hardback, oversized collection re-printing his best DC covers. I've got his Justice League comics where he did the covers and art but his later career has focused on doing covers and this is (again) a lovely book to flick through.

I also got my first actual, proper comics of the year as I won Captain America 183-185 on ebay (all 99p). This leaves me with just number 186 to get to finish the Steve Englehart run.

So quite a busy week of purchasing. But still no book to review! I've been busy painting figures, watching Homeland (S1) and playing with Manga Studio so progress on the book I'm reading can only be described as slow and steady.
