Cerebus Church and State ends

I've now finished re-reading my Cerebus run to the end of Church and State (issue 113). And to be honest, from such promising beginnings it was such a let down.

Book 5 - Astoria which ran to issue 104 was good, thought provoking and controversial but I suspect that Dave Sim's eye was already off the ball as regards to the plot as the money he was clearly making from the comic and High Society reprints as well as his status as a maverik publisher were clearly distracting him. There are so many glaring plot holes that you have to just try and sit back and enjoy the fantastic art and the episodes of humour.

Unfortunately when Cerebus "Assends" and arrives on the moon there is not even those aspects to enjoy.

So, a disappointment after such a clever and enjoyable run of comics.
